My Goodreads reading goal for 2012 is 25 novels, which averages out to one book every two weeks. I think it’s a fairly realistic goal, considering all of the other demands on my time…and the fact that there are 80+ books on my virtual “to-read” shelf.
First one read this year was Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. Generally I steer clear of current popular novels, but thanks to Goodreads I am finding that I am not as much the literary snob as I thought I was (though my love of Twilight should have cleared that up). And, surprisingly to me, I really liked this one. It isn’t a fantastic piece of literature, but it is a colorful story perfect for escaping into while never leaving the couch. The movie (starring Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson) comes out later this year.
So, one down and 24 to go, with 51 weeks remaining.
